Wouln't It be Nice

It is very difficult to improve upon a game such as Starcraft, but if I could, I would make the following 6 changes:

To begin with, I would add 3 enhancements: one for each species.

To the Protoss I would add the ability for units that had won in battle to increase their combat statistics. This would be the power of "heroes".

To the Zerg I would add the ability for units that were in close proximity to one another to increase their combat effectiveness. This would be the power of "the pack".

Finally, to the Terrans I would add the ability to instantly recover a fraction of the resources of units that perished on the field of battle. This would be the power of "reclaim".

Next, I would add 3 weaknesses to each species, which manifested themselves when the battle was going poorly.

To the Protoss I would add the weakness of "fanaticism". This means that, when morale is low, their units would charge suicidally into combat without any orders to do so.

To the Zerg I would add the weakness of "betrayal". This means that, when morale is low, their units would randomly attack one another, ignoring commands to not do so.

And to the Terrans I would add the weakness of "cowardice". This means that, when morale is low, their units would spontaneously flee from the battlefield, ignoring commands to return to combat.

All of these changes of course would require significant tweaking so that they were balanced. I will leave that for a future game designer to figure out though.
